抄録(ABSTRACT)
Mercury and sodium lamps have been used for highway lighting since the 1950s. In recent years, LED lighting has been adopted because of its energysaving and long-life characteristics. In addition, LED lighting has been developed for easy light distribution control and pro-beam lighting for improved driving visibility, and an evaluation method based on the total revealing power has been introduced. In addition, low-position roadway lighting is required to eliminate the risk of falling or collapsing light fixtures and to improve maintainability, and we are studying technologies to realize lowposition lighting. In this report, we describe some examples of lighting technology used on expressways to date, as well as issues that need to be addressed in the future.
