Flying insect pests intrude into buildings by being attracted by light. Especially, at sports grounds, numerous pests attracted by floodlights fly to nearby buildings at once when the floodlights are turned off, then many of them are attracted by the lighting and intrude into the buildings. Conventionally, to prevent this phenomenon, insect electrocutors are installed to kill the pests. A novel lighting system is developed for a biodiversity-conscious solution. This system keeps the pests in the sports ground by using LED lighting for a certain period after the floodlights are turned off. Then the LED lighting is turned off to release the pests to their original ecosystem. This lighting system can reduces flying pest intrusions and provides pest-free environment for human. Furthermore, because the system does not kill most of the pests, it has a smaller impact on the ecosystem than the conventional solution.
