抄録(ABSTRACT)
This paper hypothetically defines “light environment related well-being” as “the state of art that interaction with the light environment could cause a pleasant experience”. Then it exemplifies light environment-related well-being issues that are required to be included in the sustainability performance assessment of buildings. Such issues could be the basis for customising the light environment of privatised spaces like dwelling units. However, priorities of the issues are diversified among people. Therefore, the other principles shall be applied to design a light environment of public spaces where a variety of people can access. The paper proposes that representation of “place” and its “transition” are core concepts of the principles. Representation of“place”implies an emphasis on the embedded properties and potential of each place. Representation of places’ “transition” means the characterisation of changes in the light environment over time. The paper illustrates examples of light environmental designs that well depict the properties of a place and its transition over time.
