抄録（ABSTRACT）
This paper clarifies the design intent and technical strategies-from concept through planning, design, and implementation-aimed at realizing the concept of “Updated Nighttime Scenes in Lighting” for the landscape lighting of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. The Ring, pavilions, and landscape are conceived as an integrated system, through which the landscape components are systematically classified into eight categories to structure the overall lighting framework. The lighting design employs a layered composition and a calibrated distribution of light density, enabling spatial articulation through overlapping luminous layers. This approach generates a range of atmospheres, from focal and active spaces to quiet and natural environments, while maintaining visual coherence across the site. Environmental considerations are comprehensively incorporated, including illuminance zoning (focal, quiet, and natural), multi-stage dimming to represent temporal transitions from dusk to late night, partial integration of solar-powered systems, and rigorous control of upward light flux to mitigate light pollution. These measures contribute to both energy efficiency and ecological sensitivity. Rather than emphasizing the quantity of light, the design prioritizes the perceived quality of light as experienced on vertical surfaces and within human visual fields. Through these integrated strategies, a lighting environment is formed that unfolds along a temporal sequence, offering a nuanced and immersive nocturnal landscape experience.
